Kendall Jenner’s Vintage Oscars After-Party Dress Is a Piece of Fashion History

It was a tremendous milestone for Marion Cotillard’s career when she won best actress in 2008 for her portrayal of Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose. But the moment was made even more spectacular with her ivory haute couture gown by Jean Paul Gaultier, which was ornamented with meticulously beaded mermaid fish scales. Fast-forward to today, and Kendall Jenner attended the Vanity Fair in the exact same design, but in a shade from the opposite end of the color spectrum.

At the star-studded Hollywood bash, the 27-year-old model shut down the red carpet in an iteration of Cotillard’s dress from 2008. However, Jenner’’s vintage Jean Paul Gaultier dress, from the brand’s spring/summer 2008 haute couture collection, was a shimmery golden bronze color. The model ensured the glittering dress was the focal point of her look by opting for classic black pumps and no jewelry.
