Kate Middleton has made green dresses a staple of her wardrobe throughout 2022—but it looks like yellow may be giving the jewel tone a run for its money.
On July 9, the Duchess of Cambridge was photographed attending the women’s singles final at Wimbledon wearing a vibrant yellow Roksanda midi dress. She styled the short-sleeve dress, which features an oversized bow detail on the left shoulder, with her All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club ribbon, a pair of simple white pumps, and a pair of cat-eye sunglasses.
Middleton kept her makeup look simple with a slightly pink lip and wore her hair down in long loose waves. If the dress itself feels a bit more formal than Middleton’s usual Wimbledon style, it may be because the duchess later presented the Wimbledon trophy to Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina.
Middleton also attended the men’s doubles Final on July 9, wearing a floppy sunhat in the stands to avoid the glare.
Middleton has worn this shade of yellow to Wimbledon more than once in the past. In fact, the duchess wore another short-sleeve lemon midi dress in 2018 and another bright Roksanda dress in 2016.
As for the summer of 2022, the duchess wore a more subdued pastel yellow Emilia Wickstead dress and Philip Treacy hat to the National Service of Thanksgiving during the queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June. It’s safe to say this is one of Middleton’s favorite colors to wear during the year’s warmest months.
Wimbledon wasn’t the only sporting event Kate Middleton attended this week. On July 6, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup 2022 at Guards Polo Club with their dog, Orla. Photographers captured not only Orla’s first public appearance since joining the Cambridge family in 2020 but also a rare moment of PDA between the couple.
The dress Middleton wore to the event may not have been yellow, but it sure was perfect for summer!
