Canadian tuxedos are definitely a vibe, but there’s nothing inherently sexy about the allover denim trend. Thankfully, we’ve got fashion visionaries like Irina Shayk to show us how to turn the “Cowboy Like Me” aesthetic into a going-out look.
On June 8, the 37-year-old model stepped out in New York City wearing a dark-wash denim jacket with leather sleeves and low-rise skinny jeans featuring matching leather panels down each leg. The luxurious detail mimics leather chaps without the risqué display of skin, but that doesn’t mean the look is tame. Shayk was also photographed with her denim jacket unbuttoned, revealing just a tiny black bra underneath.
The model tied the entire look together with a pair of oversized silver hoops, skinny black sunglasses, and cowboy-inspired leather booties. Horse-girl fashion never looked so cool.
Irina Shayk’s structured shirtless ensemble is a slight departure from her recent obsession with gauzy slip dresses, the black bra ties in nicely with her lingerie-forward summer wardrobe. It seems the model couldn’t resist bringing back leather after hitting up Coachella in a leather Burberry swimsuit and Vivienne Westwood platform booties back in April.
“I love mixing some of my favorite designer pieces and really amazing vintage pieces, to create super unique looks,” Shayk told Vogue of her festival style. “Coachella is a great opportunity to recycle some looks you’ve had in your closet for a while—and mix and match them in a new and fun way.”
Clearly, she’s having just as much fun experimenting with style at the race track, Cannes Film Festival, and on the streets of New York.
