Happy Socks Taps Alexander Meyer as CEO

Happy Socks has named Alexander Meyer as its new chief executive officer.

Meyer will succeed Mikael Söderlindh, who will transition into the role of executive chairman at the Swedish sock and underwear company.

Most recently, Meyer was the CEO of Weekday, a Swedish fashion retailer owned by H&M. Prior to that, he held leadership positions at American Apparel & Footwear Group, Urban Outfitters and Abercrombie & Fitch.

“I am delighted to welcome Alexander Meyer as the new CEO of Happy Socks. He brings a wealth of experience in the fashion industry, combined with a creative and commercial mindset. I am confident that under his leadership, Happy Socks will continue to grow and develop as a leading global brand,” said Söderlindh in a statement.

Founded in 2008 by Söderlindh and Viktor Tell, Happy Socks has become known for its colorful and patterned socks. The company has since expanded its product offering to include underwear, swimwear, and accessories.

In recent years, Happy Socks has been on a growth trajectory. In 2022, the company reported a 25% increase in sales, driven by strong demand for its products in the United States and Europe.

Happy Socks has also been expanding its retail presence. The company currently operates over 100 stores worldwide, including locations in major cities such as New York, London, and Tokyo.

With Meyer at the helm, Happy Socks is well-positioned to continue its growth and expansion. The company is expected to open additional stores in key markets and launch new product categories in the coming years.

Meyer’s appointment comes at a time when the fashion industry is undergoing significant change. Consumers are increasingly demanding sustainable and ethical products, and brands are responding by adopting more environmentally friendly practices and sourcing materials from suppliers who meet high social and environmental standards.

Happy Socks has been a pioneer in the sustainable fashion movement. The company has been using organic cotton in its products since 2016, and it has also committed to reducing its carbon footprint and waste.

Under Meyer’s leadership, Happy Socks is expected to further its commitment to sustainability and continue to be a leader in the ethical fashion space.

In addition to his role as CEO of Happy Socks, Meyer will also join the company’s board of directors.

The appointment of Meyer is expected to be effective in the third quarter of 2023..
