Like the Princess of Wales, Meghan Markle, a.k.a. the Duchess of Sussex, has often worn jewelry that pays tribute to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. When Prince Harry designed her engagement ring, for example, he included two diamonds from his mother’s personal collection, alongside a larger diamond sourced from Botswana.
Since then the duchess has sported a number of pieces that previously belonged to Diana, including a dazzling aquamarine ring by Asprey that she wore for her wedding reception and, more recently, to receive the Ripple of Hope Award, presented by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights nonprofit organization.

Meghan first wore Diana’s aquamarine ring for her wedding reception at Frogmore House in May 2018, before bringing it back out during a visit to Tonga later that year. Most recently she wore the cocktail ring at the Ripple of Hope Gala in New York. The piece was originally commissioned from Asprey by the former Princess of Wales in 1996, using an aquamarine gifted to her by friend Lucia Flecha de Lima.

This Cartier diamond tennis bracelet—which Diana was pictured wearing on a number of occasions, including at an American Red Cross Gala in Washington in 1997—was first seen on the duchess during a state dinner in Fiji in 2018. She has worn the piece several times since then, including at a Commonwealth Day service in 2019 and at the Salute to Freedom Gala in New York in 2021.

Another Cartier piece from Diana’s collection is also now worn by Meghan: namely, her gold Tank Française watch. The duchess was first seen wearing the accessory at a Fortune magazine summit back in 2020, and has often been photographed with the watch since then, including during an Invictus Games engagement in Dusseldorf in September 2022. Meghan’s love of Cartier’s classic Tank design actually predates her time as a royal—she revealed that she had bought herself a two-tone version back in 2015, which she engraved with “To M.M. From M.M.” on the back.

Meghan debuted Diana’s butterfly earrings on the first day of her tour of Australia in 2018, when it was first announced that she was pregnant with Archie. The gold earrings, which feature diamonds at the top and deep blue gemstones at the bottom, were first seen on Diana during a visit to British Columbia in 1986, paired with a gold necklace also featuring a butterfly design.
