Which celebrity is most responsible for the return of early aughts fashion trends? It’s a real whodunnit, but Kate Hudson is high up among the list of suspects, especially when concerning the comeback of the most unexpected color combo: Chocolate brown and gold. The actor walked the red carpet at the premiere of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery at the closing evening of the London Film Festival on Sunday, October 16, as did costars Kathryn Hahn, Daniel Craig, and Janelle Monae.
Hudson’s chocolate brown YSL gown featured a sheer diamond-shaped panel at the waist, as well as two matching sheer panels from hip to hem. The Fabletics founder wore the revealing look (we love a side-boob moment) with a brown fur coat, which she styled luxuriously off-the-shoulders. Her waist-length blonde hair was center parted and sleek, keeping with the trend of early ’00s glam.
The 43-year-old, with the help of longtime stylist Sophie Lopez, has opted for more structured looks during the Glass Onion press tour, her YSL gown breaking a streak of tailored Thom Browne and body-hugging Erdem corseted gowns.
Kate Hudson, whose daughter Rani just celebrated her fourth birthday, recently opened up about her movie star mom Goldie Hawn’s involvement in her life—including her hands-on approach to Hudson’s experience in the delivery room.
“She just had to be there and was, like, right in my vagina with headlight reading glasses on!” Hudson recounted last week on the of the births of all three of her children. “It was like out of a comedy, but as funny as it was, it was also this unbelievably emotional experience for both of us.”
