While we all safely celebrate St. Patrick’s Day stateside, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, is once again showing us how to dress for every occasion with style and class. Case in point: her latest all-green ensemble.
On Thursday, March 17, Kate and Prince William visited the 1st Battalion Irish Guards’ St. Patrick’s Day Parade at Mons Barracks in Aldershot (which is in England, not Ireland, by the way), where the duchess wore a new forest green coat by designer Laura Green. How apropos! (The designer was identified by InStyle.)
The coat had echoes of military style with epaulets, buttons, and a belt, and Middleton added a gold shamrock brooch for the occasion. She completed the monochrome ensemble with suede pumps and a green hat. Take that, Kermit. It is easy being green.
Here she is greeting an adorable small child, who isn’t wearing any green! Who let you leave the house like that, small child? Thankfully, one of the guards let the small child wear his big fuzzy hat. Unfortunately, said hat is not green.
She also met a dog. The dog wore green. Good dog.
This is the first St. Patrick’s Day event the royal couple have been able to attend since the start of the pandemic. In 2019, Middleton wore a very similar outfit. Same color, same brooch, different coat and hat. Possibly same earrings? Hard to tell. It’s reminiscent of her recent blue-on-blue-on-blue look that was likely a subtle tribute to the people of Ukraine.
That year she and her husband had some beer. Kate Middleton also met a different dog.
Do you want to know more about the dogs? Obviously. The Irish Guards’ mascot is the Irish wolfhound, and this year’s good boy is named Seamus. In 2019, it was Domhnall, who was also on hand in 2018 and 2017. Back in 1999, it was a pup named Colin.
But back to Kate Middleton’s green coat: We’ve rounded up a few options, below, should you want to cop her look. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
