Bella Hadid was sleek and sexy at the Met Gala in a custom look from Burberry. The supermodel walked the carpet solo. She previously attended with then boyfriend The Weeknd, but her current relationship isn’t one for big events (she’s been quietly dating art director Marc Kalman for over a year).
This year’s theme, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” is the second part of last year’s theme, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” The distinction between these two themes is probably obvious to fashion people, but they look identical to me…much like the two belts!
Designed by Riccardo Tisci for Burberry, Bella’s look included a custom corset, lace leggings, a chiffon skirt, and a chiffon shawl. The look was styled with a romantic updo and, my favorite detail, an anklet of pearls.
Burberry is a London-based brand but we won’t hold that against Hadid; what is America if not a spin on Britain?
Though she looked gorgeous, we were just a tad disappointed she didn’t go full cowgirl. That Woody from she stepped out in a few weeks ago was so fun!
The model skipped the 2021 Met Gala, leading many to speculate that she was unable to attend because of the event’s strict policy regarding vaccination. She then revealed that she did get the vaccine months after it was available. Remember everybody: Health is the most fashionable accessory of all.
In addition to her fashion commitments, the younger Hadid sister is branching out into acting; she has a role on the upcoming third season of Hulu’s critically acclaimed comedy Ramy.
Bella Hadid recently opened up about the troublesome side of the fashion industry, revealing that she felt pressure to adhere to a certain look from a young age, and she now regrets undergoing a rhinoplasty procedure when she was just fourteen years old. “I wish I had kept the nose of my ancestors,” Hadid explained. “I think I would have grown into it.”
In the same interview, she spoke proudly of her work ethic. “People can say anything about how I look, about how I talk, about how I act. But in seven years I never missed a job, canceled a job, was late to a job. No one can ever say that I don’t work my ass off.”
