Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are newly reconciled, but they’re already dressing to match. The duo, who called time on their relationship in 2022, caused a social media storm by rekindling it at Coachella last month. And they’re still going strong, at least if the photographs of them leaving a gym in New York City are anything to go by.
One thing to note: Neither looked like the sweaty messes we are when we leave a gym. (Must be the glow of a second chance at love!) Secondly, they’re proposing that, if you must gym with your partner, you best do it in matching fits.
Mendes wore his signature gym garb of a black Nike shirt, shorts, and a pair of Reebok Club Cs. Cabello twinned with her guy in a black pleated tennis skirt, black sneaks, and a sweat-wicking gym top. Both shielded their faces (albeit, not so well) from the paparazzi’s lenses in blacked-out shades. Sorta chic when it comes down to it. Sorta says, “We’re stronger than ever.”
And sure, the duo were just dressed for Spinning. Or boxing. Or whatever class they enjoy together. But doing so in matching gear, it spoke to a wider renaissance of coupled-up dressing. We are officially in another golden age of paired-up, dressed-up, loved-up celebrities. We haven’t seen in-sync dressing like this since Brit and JT flew the flag for tripled-up, doubled-up denim.
There’s Bad Bunny and Kendall Jenner doing their thing courtside in techno-rodeo snakeskin boots. Hailey and Justin Bieber are finally dressing like each other, after years of going against each other’s personal aesthetic. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker do their thing in rock-and-roll ’fits, borrowing bits from each other’s wardrobe. Austin Butler and Kaia Gerber sweetly pair up their retro-style Adidas shoes.
But it isn’t just out on the streets or at really, really exclusive parties where the duos of the celebrity world are twinning. Nay. The gym isn’t even safe. Just look at Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.
