Kate Middleton Wore the Perfect Pair of Nautical Shorts to the Great Britain Sail Grand Prix

Prince William and Princess Charlotte weren’t the only Cambridges feeling sporty this weekend. On July 31, Kate Middleton attended the Great Britain Sail Grand Prix—and she made sure to look the part.

The Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the event in Plymouth, England, wearing a nautical ensemble, complete with a navy and white striped sweater, white shorts with gold buttons, and white sneakers. Her hair was worn in loose waves, which she would eventually pull back into a ponytail when she took part in some sailing of her own.

According to , Middleton joined Olympic sailor Sir Ben Ainslie to promote sustainability with his organization 1851 Trust, which works to empower and educate young people to explore STEM fields. The pair met with a group of kids to explore active ways to fight climate change and made seagrass mats that will “improve marine health” off the Plymouth Sound.

When it came to a friendly “Commonwealth Race” around the south coast of England, Kate Middleton did not sit on the sidelines. In fact, the duchess suited up in a GBR wetsuit and grey baseball cap to join Ainslie and the rest of the crew in their catamaran.
