Cindy Crawford just proved that good design is truly timeless.
The supermodel shared a throwback image of herself wearing the exact same bondage-inspired Versace design that Dua Lipa wore to the 64th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday. Crawford originally wore the floor-length black dress to the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards 30 years ago.

Crawford shared her love for Lipa’s more accessorized take on the dress, which she paired with new platinum blonde hair, by posting both looks to Instagram with the caption, “Then and now 🖤 Timeless.” Donatella Versace commented with love and agreement, writing, “Absolutely timeless!”
Even though it’s the same dress, both stars made it look completely different. The now 56-year-old model opted for a big bouffant hairstyle with the ultimate ’90s glam: strong brows, brown lips, and bold lashes. The “Don’t Start Now” singer gave it a vampy turn with wine-colored lips and heavy gold jewelry.

This black buckled bodice and sleek skirt dress has become iconic over the years. In addition to Lipa, Kaia Gerber, Crawford’s daughter, wore a mini version of the dress for her 18th birthday in 2019. Though it was supermodel Christy Turlington who first wore the gown on the runway during Versace’s fall 1992 show.
Donatella Versace, like her brother Gianni, loves her muses, and she got another chance to work with Lipa as well as Megan Thee Stallion later on during Sunday’s show. Before presenting the best new artist award—which both artists have won in years prior—the pair wore a second set of matching black Versace looks.

After a cute little skit reminiscent of the Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey “same dress” gag from the 1998 MTV VMAs, the pair announced Olivia Rodrigo as the winner of best new artist award. Maybe the three of them will take the stage together next year? We’re sure Donatella would love to dress them all.
