Dua Lipa wore an unconventional wedding guest look for her famous friends’ nuptials over the weekend: a sheer white dress.
The international superstar attended the A-lister wedding of Jacquemus founder Simon Porter Jacquemus and his partner, Marco Maestri, which took place last weekend in Charleval, France. She wore an all-white look consisting of a halter-neck white lingerie set underneath a sheer white floor-length gown with cap sleeves, a thigh-high slit, and beautiful 3-D flower detail.
Her long, black hair was worn straight and middle-parted, while she accessorized with mismatched statement earrings, one star shaped and the other a circular hoop, and a large black leather bag with a twisted rope handle, plus simple nude sandals.
It’s an outfit choice that traditionally might have been the ultimate no-no—according to Debrett’s wedding handbook, for instance, guests should avoid white (or cream or black), and take care not to “overshadow the bride.” We could totally make a pun right now that Dua Lipa was simply making “New Rules” for herself—however, the truth is that in context, her look is absolutely perfect and appropriate for the occasion.

Not only is the outfit by the groom himself (a look from Jacquemus’s autumn 2022 ready-to-wear collection), it was also in keeping with other wedding guests like models Didi Stone and Mica Argañaraz, who also wore white—clearly this was a prearranged dress code. A glorious lesson on throwing wedding traditions out the door and embracing things on your own term as a couple, to be honest.
As for groom and groom, Marco Maestri wore a cream suit (a nod to the tradition) while Simon Porte Jacquemus went with a navy suit and tie (his grandmother Liline, who escorted him down the aisle, wore a bandeau white gown, however, and looked fabulous in it).
