Following her Balenciaga ball gown moment at haute couture Paris Fashion Week, Bella Hadid jetted to Biarritz for some R&R with her boyfriend, Marc Kalman. Is it even a holiday if you didn’t Instagram it? Hadid shared a series of holiday snapshots of her strolling along the seafront while finding her light against the blood-orange sunset.
Her look: a black stretch satin bandeau top and leggings—almost pedal-pushers length! (remember those?)—evoked the spirit of Balenciaga’s second-skin fashion but had retro flair. It was so retro, in fact, that it brought to mind Sandy Olsson’s major transformation in Grease. You know the part: when Olivia Newton-John strips off her saccharine twinset and shapes up to be a whole new, sexier Sandy. Call us nostalgic, but it was a serious look.
Bella added a few la dolce vita accessories by way of a silk Miu Miu neck scarf, vintage-look mules, and some gold baroque heart earrings. Her final flourish was a pair of sunglasses that, had Grease been filmed now, would have given Sandy some added sass.

The pizza-filled few days on the coast followed a hairy journey to France for Hadid, who lost her passport and rushed to commission a new one. Evecntually landing in Paris at 5:30 a.m. on show day, the model went straight into hair and makeup to shoot the look book at 7 a.m., before the presentation at midday. From the videos of her gliding around Balenciaga’s salon alongside Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman, and Dua Lipa, you would never know she had been anything but cool, calm, and collected.
